Turin

Piazza Castello, 113

The building dates back to the 1930s, it has an eighteenth-century facade in line with the buildings on Via Roma and it denounces the architectural choices of Italian rationalism. The reception area is dominated by a monumental staircase with a central ramp decorated with two tubular handrails that forks into the two side ramps that give access to the stairs of the housing units. It is framed by a backdrop with round arched windows that provide natural light to the environment, the whole area is characterized by polychrome marble decorations.

The redevelopment took place through the use of architectural signs in line with the period of its construction, characterized by a sober monumentality and a marked attention to detail, and with a moderate contemporary reinterpretation of the individual elements. The curved line and the angle are the theme of the architecture of the 1930s and in particular of the architecture of the specific block. Everything is completed with the new lighting system, a luminous ribbon that, starting from the compass, continues inside and beyond towards the stairwells. The cascading light in the stairwell completes the setting of the environment.
